Fitness & Wellness
Now is the perfect time to prioritise a training regime with your Summer body in mind. 12 weeks is just the right amount of time to complete 2 x 6-week training programs so you can be at your absolute peak for Summer.
It takes 4 weeks for you to see change, 8 weeks for friends/family and 12 weeks for the rest of the world.
In order to get great results in all areas of our lives, we need a healthy and active body. Making fitness a priority is the best way to navigate your way through the year, keeping your motivation at an all-time high.
Handy tips:
Your program should include strength and conditioning, cardio, stretching and proper nutrition. Make sure it is suited to your fitness level so you can stick to it. Even if you do only 1 workout a week, it’s better than none.
Keep it simple…try this:
Weeks 1-6
Monday, Wednesday, Friday
Squats
Lunges
Push Ups
Tri Dips
Plank (20s-90s)
10-15 reps of each, adding more weight each session.
Followed by 30min cardio and 15min stretching.
Weeks 7-12
Monday, Wednesday, Friday
Dead Lifts
Alternating Kickbacks
Bicep Curls
Shoulder Raises
Triceps Extensions
Crunches
Hyperextensions
Close Position Push Ups
10-15 reps of each adding more weight each session.
Followed by 30min cardio and 15min stretching.
Not sure what these exercises are? Jump on YouTube and have a look, you will be surprised – it’s right at your fingertips.
Don’t underestimate the power of goal setting and a plan of action. You will already be halfway there.
It’s well and truly the end of Winter and NOW is the time to reset goals; source a personal trainer for sessions or organise 2 x 6-week fitness programs to suit your goals, so you can start preparing for Spring and that FABULOUS Summer Body.
I know I will be prepared, will you?

Boutique Organic Farming
Well, Spring certainly has arrived early this year. The birdsongs in and around our gardens have been beautiful this past few weeks.
Our Asparagus beds, now in their second season are pushing up lots of delicious spears. The new Jerusalem Artichoke beds have germinated ready for a big Summer of growth. They are in the Sunflower family, so we get the added bonus of having a two meter high hedge of baby Sunflowers. Our Sweet Potato runners have been transplanted from the nursery, too. We are excited about getting our early golden Zucchinis, but we are anticipating a big fruit fly season, so to get the Zucchini crop through before they arrive is important.
Right now, we are harvesting broad beans and their delicate shoots, Nicola potatoes, spring peas, baby beetroot, baby cos lettuce, onions, broccoli and lots more.
Just a handy tip, as temperatures increase, it’s time to start mulching your beds in heavily to avoid water loss and protect your delicate plants.
Enjoy the warmer weather, enjoy your gardens.

Yoga & Meditation
The warmer weather of Spring is fully set in already and now could be the perfect time to take your Yoga practice outside!
Mix it up from your indoor group classes with “Sadhana”, your own personal practice. This time of year is just lovely on the beach and not too hot to do some seated forward bends and twists for the hips, back and hammies or perhaps set up a little space in the park doing some more dynamic standing postures and balances. How about finding a lovely spot perhaps in your garden to do 10 or 20 sun salutations to get you going in the morning? What fun!
Add a bit of contrast and balance out your day by taking some time out for yourself. Sit quietly outside, where you will be undisturbed and practice some meditation or pranayama (conscious breathing). Even just 5 min to yourself sitting with your breath makes a huge difference. Savour the tranquility and beauty of our wonderful climate…
Don’t forget, you can get a copy of our fabulous new Gaia Yoga DVD and join me for 3 x 20mins Yoga classes to get your body moving ready for a big Summer. Follow the link – https://shop.gaiaretreat.com.au/product/gaia-yoga-instant-download/
