Make self-care and self-nourishment the new hobby your body deserves. Glowing skin is a trend that is not going away, and summer (whilst we love it!) can mean sun damage, air conditioning and ocean or pool swims.
As we live life to the fullest and enjoy this special time of year…what can we do to help prevent or help repair sun-damaged skin? We all know the benefits of wearing an SPF on your face and body daily, but did you know it is important to cleanse and exfoliate your skin regularly too?
Cleansing your skin encourages cell turnover, replenishes the skin’s moisture barrier, and prevents premature aging. Finish off your morning skincare routine by applying a brightening serum to help boost your moisturiser qualities and an SPF for protection. At night time, we can choose a hydrating serum and moisturiser to help with your skin’s repair and replenishment.
Drink plenty of water and eat antioxidant-rich foods such as blueberries and strawberries, spinach, kale, green beans, and green tea.
And of course, get enough sleep. 7-9 hours of sleep each night leads to more
moisturised skin, boosting the ability to protect and heal itself. A regular
lack of sleep weakens the skin’s ability to repair and rejuvenate itself,
resulting in fine lines and reduced elasticity in the skin’s appearance.
Let us not forget our hair…
To prepare our hair all year round to avoid dryness and damage, use a hydrating hair mask or treatment to intensely moisturise and deeply hydrate from the roots to tips. Our favourite in the Gaia Day Spa is a 7-day miracle mask with wonderful ingredients such as argan, macadamia, and coconut oil to give us soft, silky, smooth, and frizz-free hair.
Have fun in the sun this summer while looking after your precious skin’s energy and essence.
Lots of love from all of us here in the Gaia Day Spa.
